Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of setting up shop in our first event, the “Do it for the Plot Twist” Adult Book Fair by Eeek! Creative hosted by Lolev Beer. So, what better time than now to look into one of Scott and crew's awesome beers? Daltonico Black IPA- now, I may be a little partial on this, with black being one of my absolute favorite styles of beer. Right from the start, this beer pours slightly different than other black IPAs; it has a hazy, opaque, deep brown color and a beautiful thick tan-colored head. At first taste, you get a mild roast on the tongue, light cocoa in the middle, and it ends with a big hop burst at the end. The big piney and citrus notes you get at the end are the culprits of the hops used: Cascade CGX, Erebus, Idaho 7, and Nelson Sauvin. These hops don’t let you forget that even with the dark color of this beer, it is most certainly an IPA. If you ever find yourself in the Lawrenceville area of Pittsburgh, be sure to stop by and check out this awesome brewery, grab yourself a Daltonico (if it's currently on tap), and try the others they have on. You will not be upset you did.
Cheers!
